Slacker

Yes. That is what I am. I have decided that I get little obsessions that last for a period of months, and then I move on. I call myself a slacker because I don't stick to one thing for a consistently long time.

Take journal writing. I remember in Young Women's the leaders would always read the deepest journal entries contemplating life and its true meaning (at the age of 14). Almost all of my entries went something like this "I know I haven't written in like 3 months, but I'll catch you up". No joke. My posterity is going to look at that and laugh. I have thought of writing in my will to burn my old kid journals to save myself embarrassment of writing such ridiculous and trivial things. You don't hear about a journal entry by the General Relief Society President that says "I love Ted" and the next day "I hate Ted". You get the picture.

Then again, if I'm dead, I wouldn't care what they thought of my musings. Hmmm. Maybe I'll rethink the burn request.

I can't promise that I'm going to write every week. But I'm going to up the ante and actually write something more often.

I LOVE YOU!

Valentine's Day was very special this year. We blessed our beautiful little girl on the Day o' Love. Her gorgeous dress was a present from Nanna, and will always be a treasured gift! My brother blessed his little boy, Dresden, the same day. Despite the fact that she screamed during the entire blessing, it was wonderful. We had lots of family there to celebrate, eat, and love!

Can we say personality?

Isn't this so sweet?

Happy Valentine's Day little one. We love you so much!

Our Miracle

**Warning--This post is very long, read at your leisure**

She's finally here! We'd like to introduce you to our beautiful little girl...

Leilani Sophia Walker
November 2, 2009
6 lb 5 oz 19.5 in

Her arrival was quite a miracle. Many of you know that I didn't want to have a Halloween baby. Lucky for me, she didn't come on Halloween. I woke up a few times during the early morning hours of November 1st experiencing some contractions. They weren't too painful, so I quickly fell back to sleep. But from about 7 am, I was having contractions every 15 minutes. I figured that I'd just wait it out and see if they would get any closer. I power-walked my way to church while Spencer drove with Blake (we only live 3 blocks away). I'm sure my entire ward was laughing at the sight.

After church I realized the baby hadn't been moving so I decided to take a nap. When I woke up I noticed that she still hadn't moved. I kept thinking, "Am I being paranoid?" I started to pray and ask if I needed to go to the hospital. We went to my brother's birthday party and I kept feeling that we needed to go to the hospital and have them check the baby.

We left Blake with Nanna and went to the hospital. They conducted a Non-Stress test and the baby's heart rate didn't have enough variability. The nurse called my doctor and he decided to start my labor since I was 2 days overdue. After being on the Pitocin and having my water broken, I had only dilated from a 2 to a 3. The doctor was concerned that the baby wasn't dropping, I wasn't dilating, she hadn't moved, and her heart rate was dipping after every contraction. He thought it would be best to do a c-section. I didn't want to do it, but we had to do what was best for the baby. Within 15 minutes, I was in the operating room being prepped for the c-section. Just 15 minutes later, our little girl was born. It was a good thing we did the c-section because she had the cord wrapped around her neck 4 times. It had tethered her up so that she wouldn't have dropped and I wouldn't have been able to deliver her normally. The doctor said that if I had waited until my appointment on Monday the baby probably would have been still born.

Leilani is perfect and has had no problems. Other than being sore from the c-section, I am recovering just fine. We are so blessed; we've really experienced a miracle. We will always be grateful that we listened to the promptings of the Spirit.

About to Pop

Obviously I haven't posted for a while...well, almost twenty weeks to be exact! Anyway, it seems that the end of my pregnancy is drawing near, so I'd better post a side view.

I am anxiously awaiting our little girl to come to our family and join us. I can't wait to cuddle her and enjoy that intoxicating 'baby' smell!

Hurry up little one...momma's waitin'!

Thank Heaven for....

Yesterday was the much anticipated 20 week ultrasound. For weeks I had thought that I might get some kind of inkling if it was a girl or boy. Up until the moment that we saw, I had no clue. Fortunately, we found out that the baby is completely healthy and normal--so that made me feel much better!
Maybe this will give you a hint:

That's right! We're having a baby girl on October 30th. We are still in shock...especially me. Bows, headbands, tights, bracelets....ready or not, here we come!

Catching Up

Pheww. March was a really fun month with lots to do, things to see, and blogs to forget about! We had a romantic getaway to St. George, Blake's birthday and lots of other fun times celebrating all of the birthdays in our families
(7 in one month)!
Some BIG news came in:
I'M PREGNANT!
I am now 12 weeks along and due at the end of October. The baby is doing great and I am feeling good--other than the extreme exhaustion. Sometimes I wonder if that's pregnancy or having a 2 year old to entertain, rescue, and run behind...could be a little of both!

We won't know for a little while if it's a he or she, so we'll just hope that the lil one is healthy! To be completely honest, I am terrified that it will be a girl.

I won't know what to do with all of that pink, girly, emotional stuff. Seriously, the thought makes me nauseated. Boys are so easy. Just feed them, keep them (somewhat) clean and they're good to go! That kind of thing I can handle.

I guess time will tell!
